About the event

June 27th is recognized as Multicultural Day across Canada.  This is a day where everyone is encouraged to celebrate the diversity of the population and the commitment to democracy, mutual respect, equality and appreciate the contributions of various ethical groups to Canadian society!

Over the years, The Saint John Newcomers Centre and PRUDE Inc. have partnered several times to bring amazing Canadian Multiculturalism Day events to Saint John on the Boardwalk, which SJNC has continued to do each year.

In 2017 clients asked the Staff of PRUDE Inc. if they could do something special to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday. That is when the idea was born to have an event for Canadian Multiculturalism Day that was centered around education.

Presenters were invited to share their culture through PowerPoint presentations. Things such as food, traditions, clothing, music, language and more were highlighted. This was a complimentary event to the one the Saint John Newcomers Centre offered on the boardwalk, which showcased live performances.

In 2020, as we know in this time of uncertainty finding new ways to smile and share joy is very important. PRUDE Inc., The Saint John Newcomers Centre, and the Boys and Girls Club of Saint John want to do just that!
